Vampirella - as it should be done

I was about to write regarding Vampi... why I liked her, and why I continue liking her. How she turned into a cultural icon (at least for me) and how I seek reprinted materials of her Warren days.

But as I believe one should not reinvent the wheel, I also consider the possibility that others have done something similar. In this case, explained why Vampi is so popular... and why it can be one exceptional artist's fault.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I redirect you to a fellow blogger's entry from 'The Groovy Age of Horror'...
Vampirella by Gonzales - look and feel. This blog post explains everything wonderfully, I need not add more... except maybe the fact that I still search for those ellusive reprints.

By the way - there is a part two to that: Vampirella by Gonzales - in action, which shows that Vampi was a favorite of the writer as well.

Before I end this entry, let me also say that although Gonzales did give Vampi her definitive look, her adventures were penned by Archie Goodwin (of Secret Agent Corrigan and Star Wars comic strip fame). Of course, back then, I was too young to know all these details, but not too young to feel attracted to Gonzales' renderings of my favorite Vampiress.

If this piqued your curiosity, and you wish to seek more Vampi lore, head on over to this site: Vampilore
