'The Doctor' is in

It's been 60 years... Six decades back, when the world was introduced - via a BBC black and white TV program, where an unassuming, cranky even, old man was introduced as an enigmatic figure called the Doctor. He's actually an alien, and despite his seeming scowl, is actually oen fo the 'good guys'. He helps people in trouble (usually Earthlings) against otehr aliens. Serving as the world's protector.

We later learn that he's a Galafrean; is 900 years old; has two hearts (biologically speaking); and prefers using his (later her) intellect and wits as opposed to using violent means to resort to solving conflicts or problems. He's seen as an outcast by his own race - thinking rather out of the box, so they obviously don't all think like him.

He travels in a TARDIS (which mens Time And Relative Dimension In Space) which looks like your standard blue police box from the outside (a look that can actually change, by the way - as the TARDIS can disguise itself an anything), but reamains so (the Police Box look) as its disguise changing features were damaged at one time, and later the Doctor decided to keep the look because it could easily blend in its surroundings without looking too inconspicuous, whenever it appears anywhere in the United Kingdom. Of course, the real reason is the show's budget contraints - and the producers deciding to explain it away. Not the first time budget limitiations will force the production to be creative. Oh yeah, it's bigger on the inside (relative dimension, remember?)

For some reason, the TARDIS's interiors also change whenever the Doctor changes. Part of that is, of course, again... budget concerns, but as the show moves on - the TARDIS's interior look and feel also cahnged with the times. So with a new Doctor usually comes a now interior look for his/her ship.

Talking about the Doctor... how does a 60 year old show address the Doctor still being around? Actors obviously age, after all, and they age faster that the Galafrayans do. A 900 year old scowling man, has changed his looks and fashion sense many times - the show explanation is he regenerates. His entore body resets - but he has no control over how his (later, her) new look will come out. There have been instances, for example that upon regeneration, he mentions that he hasn't turned ginger yet (meaning having red hair).

This explanation means the producers / show runners can hire a very different actor - regrdless of age, look and gender, and explain it as a regeneration thing. The Doctor is dying, regenerates, and is now played by a different actor. Neat way to go arounf having to change actors to play the Doctor and still insist that despite the new looks - this is still the same person - retaining the old incarnations memories, albeit slightly unsettled, just temporariy... until the regeneration is finally complete.

So the Doctor's been old, young, sensitive, not... but his (her) basic moral values remain. They travel to Earth or other parts of the universe, visiting distant pasts... or far off futures. They've seen the start, and end, of civilizations. Seen how races war against each otehr - obliterating each other - or at least they try to... and the Doctor can't help but step in and try to make them reach a cordial understanding. He is... after all the Doctor, a.k.a. a healer. He defends the weak - but abhors violent means in solving his dillemas.

To help us (the audience) get a grasp fo he Doctor's thoughts and actions, the show partners the Doctor with (usually) one, or more companions. These comapnions are just that... usually humans (or humaniod), looking from the outside. They are the people the Doctor explains things to - and in the process... explains things to that viewing audience. But the companions can also present a differing view to the Doctor - even at times, reminding him/her (and I'm getting tired of this, so from here on I shall simply refer to the Doctor as 'him' or 'his' - and just understand that I'm not totally forgetting about the one (or two) time(s) the Doctor was female) of their humanity. They also help, or support the Doctor in his adventures or exploits - either with their being another set of hands, or even helping the Doctor think things through - maybe even acting separately / independently with the Doctor's instructions, or through sheer understanding of the situation. They help the Doctor also reflect - and yes... even nudlge them along the way when he cannot do an act because he's too conflicted.

The comapions alos act as the audience's link between two Doctors - having witnessed when the Doctor started, and ended their regenerating process. They help us throuhg the experience. They are our wide-eyed conuterpart - reacting to how, for example teh TARDIS is larger on the inside. These companions are our link to the Doctor.

The Doctor is also a minimalist - of sorts. He carries few things with him - relying on a sonic scredriver... a handy contraptoin in his pocket that helps him open locks, fix stuff, adn even create temporary walls, and monitors. It acts as a non-lethal weapom as well - helping short out the enemy's electronics. The sonic screw driver helps him get out of a vareid number of situations. The other item he loves flashing arouind is a wallet with a (the the audience) blank sheet of paper - whihc he calls a psychic paper. Usually used to present false identifications of himself to help explain his presence, and are often not questioned by others - unless they have a hihg enough intelligence to not be fooled by the psychihc paper.

How it works is beyong me... what is shows is also a mystery to me - as I said, it's just blank paper to us all... but eh people reacting to it, just makes us all acept that whatever he showed, looked official enough to get the Doctor through security spots or check points.

The Doctor is Pacifist who always gets into trouble when he sees weak beings being bullied by stronger ones. He has a ston sense of Justice and Fairness - and the Universe is richer for him as the Cmapion for 'good'. He's curently on his 15th itteration, and continues to meet peculiar characters in strange situations - but he (at one inststance, she) always finds a way to solve a problem with minimal to no bloodshed.

His adventures are currntly being shown on Disney+.
