The Noticer (a book review)

The Noticer

Andy Andrews - author

Thomas Nelson - publisher

The premise is simple… Jones, an old man – one we’ve probably seen in our neighborhood, moves from place to place in Orange Beach, Alabama – and touches the lives of people he comes to meet – just by talking to them; making them realize a different perspective. There are several such encounters with Jones, so expect several lessons.

What was it about ‘The Noticer’ that got me to read it? Honestly? The title – and the premise seemed intriguing. I can only guess that I was wondering what exactly a Noticer does; and maybe... Jones – the book’s main character, needed to touch my life give me a new perspective on a few things… I specifically like the chapter on the languages of Love. I wont spoil things here... read the book. I highly recommend it!

It is a wonderful story, filled with wisdom – and yes… 'perspective'. Is this just a ‘half-filled’ glass thing? No – although it can be connected to such an idea - Andy tells us more than that, specially how such perspectives can help us change… in very simple, understandable concepts.

One slight concern… anyone not having read some of the biographies of people that Andy – through Jones, points out, might miss out cultural/historical reference points; though one can always use Wikipedia to learn more, I guess.

Other than that, it was a great read, and I sincerely hope I get to meet Jones, or someone like him, one day.
